Whip-Poor-Will

This feathered friend
Was new to thee
Until Sara Kendrick
Introduced me

It's the Whip-poor-will
Delightful night-jar bird
Who forage at night
During the day, rarely heard

Of mottled plumage
In blacks and browns
Deciduous habitats
But rarely towns

This beautiful bird
Departing souls it catches
But in our heart
Admiration as it latches

James these nocturnal birds are also know in Arkansas by the sound they make, as "Chic by the white oak". Thanks for comments on my Granddaughter and Granny, these are true stories about them both! Godly bless, Moses.

Beautiful description of this "feathered friend," James. They are plentificul here in the states and your "eagle" probably has met quite a few in his travel. Guess the owls are not the only night fliers. Great poem! Love, Carolyn
