While the Wild Wind Whistled

Seeking solitude, through glass doors I ventured into the forest. Led by a path of thickened brush. At winter's end, temp' sixty strong, it made for a pleasant stroll, enhanced by the whistles of the mild wind Captivated by the walls of flower and green scenery whilst inside, I stood motionless With the leaves blowing in rhythm, and the whistling singing "Like a candle in the wind" ... I tilt my nog' to the earth beneath my feet While standing on stone; I thought I noticed it was a headstone with faded and dulled letters "Mose and Mary- 1884" it read; I trust With a chilled spine- I wondered... Was it them, who whistled me here to their home I sat for hours celebrating with them, In rhythm with the leaves While the wild wind whistled "Their Anniversary" I assumed

Hi Charlie. In many horror films walking through a forest is synonymous with fear and not always clearly defined. Much is based on suggestion, anticipation of what might happen. There are elements of this in your work and I love the whole mystery aspect. Your poem started out with an appreciation of nature and took a sudden spooky turn which I loved when reading. The ending, celebrating in harmony with nature was really satisfactory and neat. Just some of my thoughts that your poem sparked in me. Big thumbs up! :) Cheers - Gary

Something about seeing a grave stone and one unexpected at that. Good people respect the lives that were. When I visited the Paris catacombs it was surreal. I could have touched the bones but sanity kept me from doing so. So many bodies. Glad you gave thought to this couple.Hopefully they were a happy one :)
