Notes About The Poem

A Ballad is a type of poem that narrates a story. Regardless of the theme,
all ballads (not to be confused with a ballade) display some common
characteristics. They contain a refrain that is repeated, can employ dialogue,
are concise, have abrupt and unexpected openings, and of course tell a story !

Where Teardrops Go

I have wept oceans of sad tears in grief,
oh, have you gathered them in heaven !
Perhaps, tears fall as rain in heaven,
    each delicate drop floating down,
you can use them in the heavenly gardens.
Place them in water fountains for the birds to bathe,
I can hear the birds from earth singing.
Let's invite the butterflies to come also,
          maybe I will come . . . just for a visit,
Do you think the gatekeeper would allow it ?

I have wept oceans of sad tears in grief,
oh, have you gathered them in heaven !
I miss you all so much every single day,
weeping from the pain of death's knife,
and the teardrops fall down my cheeks.
I am drowning in the waves of teardrops crashing,
floating on ocean waves created by me.
"Hello Gatekeeper, just a visit please?
I won't stay long, for I know that I do not belong !"
Oh, I am breathless at the beauty that I am beholding in heaven.

I have wept oceans of sad tears in grief,
oh, have you gathered them in heaven !
All my pets returned to heaven . . . are running,
to greet me and I am crying crystal tears,
but these are happy tears of joy.
Then, I see grandma and she is holding my baby in her arms,
I run over but sadly it is a mirage that I am seeing.
"Oh, Gatekeeper let me out of here,
and I am in my purple bedroom again,
I went to paradise today to see where my teardrops go.

I have wept oceans of sad tears in grief,
oh, have you gathered them in heaven !

"I have wept oceans of sad tears in grief, Oh, have you gathered them in heaven ! " Love this refrain. We all ask this question... Where do our tears go? The Bible affirms that God, in Heaven gathers our tears in bottles. Congratulations dear Constance for your great placement.

Dorothy, thank you for the compliment and lovely comment, it would be wonderful if we go have a look around heaven. I love cats and dogs, right now I have one kitty, Bella, a rescue, and she is starting to trust again, I can only imagine what she has been through but the rest of her life will be nothing but love ~
