When You

When

When you smiled
I thought "How beautiful you are."
When you cried
I witnessed the depth of you
When you were angry
I recognized that you had been hurt
When you laughed
I could feel you healing
When you played
I remembered how to be a child
When you danced
I felt my heart flutter
When you left
I wished I had known you better..

Hi Richard, with perfection you play the heartstrings with this excellent work. You write from the heart and your words caress the heart of the reader. Your golden pen will forever sing Richard. Another poetic gem my friend. The words paint a living canvas. Have a wonderful Monday. Your friend always....Mike.

A serenade to my poetic heart. I love the passion of using 'I' throughout and the effort of noticing a significant other. Like a sweet yet sad love note. Enjoyed reading!

Exceptional emotional write, Richard. Seems like a DM form poem to me ... dramatic monologue. A dark, sad and heart piercing poem. Pure poetry. Love and joy always.

no, it is not a personal experience. Thanks for the concern. This could be any number of scenarios from someone leaving a relationship to suicide or someone passing on. Maybe even a child leaving home. Each reader will insert their own meaning. Thanks for commenting.

Wow, the emotional twist at the end is heart-wrenching my friend! I am saddened by the incredibly downward feeling at the end, but the main part of the write, the heart of it all, was very heart-warning, so beautifully crafted! Then ending just brings it all down to reality...the way we truly think of the situation, and what really happens when our loved ones leave us! What a grandiose piece, Great Work Rick!!

A very powerful poem Richard. And it touches upon the survivor guilt of those wishing they could have known more and done more to stop it. Well written!

Good write, dear. If only....I'm a bit gloomy of late. Was thinking of writing a poem about it...I'm not even inspired to do that. Hugs
