When Writing a Verse

A poet, when writing a verse
Should into her feelings immerse
For she won’t survive
If she tries to deprive
What she writes of what might be adverse.

Though, of course, she just might intersperse
Words to soften a blow or reverse
Certain thoughts that contrive
To cause damage to thrive
But to out and out lie would be worse.

Refraining from writing so blunt or perverse. Is a sign of consideration for the sense of decency and respect for others. And yes, while still getting a message through that expresses and instills your thoughts and emotions.

Many Soupers write odes about things they know very little about, e.g., birds, scripture, et al, yet their work receives applause and win contests, so nothing ventured, nothing gained. Aloha! Rico
