When Words Burn

Your lies are strong like coffee grounds, but I can't grind them up small enough to make them go down smooth Your presence is becoming more like unexpected coffee stains Unsightly, unwanted, unbearable, unstable The heat burns but your toxicity made me immune to the strongest poison When you look at me in the eyes you look past me, and I see you trying to pronounce the words in a way that seems believable When you leave for work don't you know the lies stay sitting next to me as my mind undresses every plot twist Ready to predict your retort when I call you out on your bull... When you look at me my empathy sees your brokenness So, I try to pick up the pieces in hopes that you'll be able to carry yourself the rest of the way When you look at me my heart throws up, I'm disgusted at myself I'm angry that I allowed myself to still be here I'm running a fever because you still don't get it And I just smile through it like everything is fine When my reality is always dark outside because I swallowed the sun to keep your secrets And I've buried myself deep in the abyss of lies so it's hard to see a way out So, I'll just continue to get the morning coffee ready Because for a split second the sweet aroma takes away the sour situation p.s. is it possible for the moon to smile like the sun...
