When Wild is the Night
In the pitch of a moonless night
When dogs bark to their full delight
And stars shed their simmering shine
On greenish leaves of trees entwined,
When the hooting of howls nearby
Tears down the silence of the sky,
When ceaseless chirping of crickets
Invade the thick thorny thickets,
When wolves whine madly for their prey,
When starved lions roar not far away
And, in midst of whirling wild winds,
Deep in the heart, rises a twinge,
When the spirit is at low ebb
Woven inside a spider`s web
After demise of a brother
Stolen in prime youth by nature,
When even fairest flames of faith,
To lift the gloom, can`t carry weight,
When even the sparkles of stars
Cannot brighten the night afar,
What`s entailed to clear the darkness
Is the inner light to harness,
What`s needed when wild is the night
Is light of the soul to ignite.
