"Everyone has a story to tell, a lesson to teach and wisdom to share," Rachelle Taylor *********************************************************** When Wild is the Night In the pitch of a moonless night When dogs bark to their full delight And stars shed their simmering shine On greenish leaves of trees entwined, When the hooting of howls nearby Tears down the silence of the sky, When ceaseless chirping of crickets Invade the thick thorny thickets, When wolves whine madly for their prey, When starved lions roar not far away And, in midst of whirling wild winds, Deep in the heart, rises a twinge, When the spirit is at low ebb Woven inside a spider`s web After demise of a brother Stolen in prime youth by nature, When even fairest flames of faith, To lift the gloom, can`t carry weight, When even the sparkles of stars Cannot brighten the night afar, What`s entailed to clear the darkness Is the inner light to harness, What`s needed when wild is the night Is light of the soul to ignite.

This is a great poem with catchy images all through. Wild can be the night in nature and human life. When dark moments arise in life, nothing can clear the gloom or darkness, except the inner light. The concluding stanza tells it all. Congratulations on your great placement, dear friend.

I'm so thrilled to see you win first place with this, Krish. I hated DQing this gem. Without the "When" in the title, it would've placed high in my contest, for sure. I was hoping you'd read my blog about fixing the poem title. Congratulations!

Thanks a lot dear poet for your enlightening comments which have raised my spirits high. Somehow, I had missed reading your blog and not amended in time the title of the poem in line with the requirements of the contest you had put up.
