When the End Comes

When I have said my final vows Prepared to make my final bows, I will ponder my life choices Probably wherefores and hows. Should have heeded wiser voices Tuned out distracting noises, Sought more time in meditation Worn the soft tones, no turquoises. I will make this dedication To give more in expectation, In turn, a better person be Because of pure supplication. written October 4, 2021 especially for "Interlocking Rubaiyat" Poetry Contest HMS used in counting syllables sponsored by Angel L. "Sought more time in meditation Worn the soft tones, no turquoises." What? I do not understand this crack about turquoise. I LOVE wearing TURQUOISE! Trixie is shaking her baton saying "What did Hank mean? What does he have against turquoise?" Should we take this literally? Hmmmmmm

LMAO. I love turquoise, it's my birthstone, for cryin' out loud, but it rhymed and it worked with the line. You try to find something that rhymes with "voices" and "noises." (still LMAO)....I used to wear a turquoise ring, but I wouldn't dare wear turquoise pants!!!

Sigh! May it be a (long) while coming, my friend. Love the poem, esp. the second stanza. Best always, Gershon

Thanks, Gershon. I am a bit melancholy. I lost my third best/longest friend on Sunday afternoon to cancer. We had been friends since the early 70s. Thanks for your thoughts, GW.
