Torn from my slumber in the early hours by a Blackbird outside in a tree, as it performed for us a solo dawn chorus as loud as can possibly be. Now fully awake, no way could I sleep all because of that darned noisy pest, so I stumbled about with one leg in my jeans as I quietly tried to get dressed. But I woke the missus, she looked at the clock saying “ it's only three forty-six!” which meant that last night when I checked all the clocks my watch I'd forgotten to fix. Next year when the Government say 'put your clocks back' can somebody please have a word, and ask them when they start reminding us all- can they also go tell all the birds.

Such great images you have. The stumbling around with one leg in the pants is something I can identify with. How about just generally stumbling around. Anyhow--you are still and always will be great!

Entertaining, as usual, Viv, and the ending is the cherry on the cake. Now that I'm retired I have no need for daylight saving time...I play time around as I please according to need or mood! Regards // paul

Thanks, Paul, I'd love to know how many people are admitted to hospital twice a year for falling off ladders trying to get their clocks down. Regards, Viv

I love birsong in Spring through to Autumn, Arthur, but after time changes in October, it's a pain. And I don't want to have to cut down a perfectly good tree. Thanks for dropping by. Regards, Viv

Yes, Andrea, the things I miss- Bazooka Joe bubblegum, Kali (pronounced Kay-lie) which was rainbow sherbet, and Jubblies- pyramid shaped ice lollies in a cardboard wrapper. After eating the ice, you tipped the pyramid carton up and drank the thawed juice. Lovely. Viv x

We get back the hour we lost in the spring. We all have Benjamin Franklin to thank for this thing. Good write.

Right both times, Jean- I am a bit of a looney, and sometimes full of horse doo-doo x

I just did too. But in Ireland ,if we say someone is "for the birds", we mean they are a bit of a looney. I hope this does not sting as much Viv.
