When Poetry Steps Off the Page

When poetry steps off the page,
It has come of age,
And is ready for life as a sage.

When poetry steps off the page,
It can many voices upstage,
And becomes worthy of repetition on any stage.

When poetry steps off the page,
It can bring forth a new age,
Or open a window to a long-forgotten anchorage.

When poetry steps off the page,
It can help us with the world re-engage,
So we can break out of our cage,

When poetry steps off the page,
It can help us understand our rage,
And present us with a softer image.

When poetry steps of the page,
Dressed all in beige,
It gives its creator rite of passage in any age.

Marked as a FaV in an instant before commenting, All stanzas are perfect, The last one is a knockout "it gives it's creator the right of passage" What a poet you are,wow Panagiota

I am overwhelmed by your comments. I guess it takes a poet to know another one. Bless you. David in NZ.
