When Love Reckons For a Second Time

When love reckons for a second time, like a drum, it comes on fast and hard and strong until two hearts in synch beat passion’s song. Sometimes second love may gently climb or ease sure-footed to one’s door where it sweetly seeps and saturates the soul. Love the second time is strong and yet it’s soft. It doesn’t sting or snip. It listens and reverberates the whispers of the heart. July 29, 2014 for the Contest of Nayda Ivette Negron

If I thought I really was a poet and then I read you, I would only ever write again for me and my friends. I once Directed a play about Byron and Shelly. I read both of them and their contemporaries. Those were the days. They wrote epics. When I read Coleridge...In Xanadu did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure dome decree...I thought I had died and gone to heaven. You are an amazing writer Andrea...an amazing writer.

The eyes and mind are called to serve the heart. If you keep them open, love will come. That's what I get from your poem. If you keep them closed, love dies. And the eyes grow dim and the heart turns to stone. We are born innocent. Adia. Couldn't help the reference. :)
