When I Speak Of
When I speak of
Loneliness
I guess
I speak of companionship
The ability
Or lack of
To foster that
Over time
To grow old
In someone’s arms
Share history
And photo albums
I look upon couples
Old and young
With envy
And a little sadness
Yet
Deep down
I knew all along
My life
Would lead me
Here
To this
To this point
For that was the plan
I had dreamt
For years
I didn’t want it
I prayed for it
Not to be
So
I go bush
When I can
Or wonder
A far off
Golden beach
And this is where
It changes
To oneness
Which I practice
In solitude
Far from
Loneliness
With the bush
And beach
Just me
