When I Am Gone

One day I shall no longer see your face
Nor hold you in my arms upon this earth.
My voice will disappear without a trace
And life’s possessions prove of little worth.

And yet the stars above will ever shine,
The honeysuckle still exude its scent,
The sun will ripen fruit upon the vine
Although the pulse of life for me be spent.

And though an aching grief will grip your heart
At losing that deep bond which we have known,
I pray, your life in which I played a part
Will reap the seeds of joy which we have sown.

Through faith in God our lives will touch once more
When face to face we meet across the shore.
