When I Am Exhausted
When I am exhausted but not yet ready for bed
I flip myself upside down letting blood come to my head
Inverting myself like a moth, or a bat
Ideas come quickly, all succinct and pat.
When I am tired, I know what to do.
I hang from a limb after I take off a shoe.
The blood comes to my brain and gives me new thought.
It is something I learned by myself, without being taught.
