When Fantasy Overcomes Reality

My heart is writing on a tear soaked page
Love is vicious and life is so unfair
Truth is, the more you love the more you care
You figure it out, your last act on stage
When love teases, the heart becomes enraged
Then strikes back for getting caught unprepared
Punishing you for being unaware
Leaving you lost and lonely in a maze
Sometimes dreams can be a dangerous thing
Fantasy overcomes reality
The heart starts to ache for what used to be
You feel sharp pain from love's poisonous sting
Once again you become a casualty
Find yourself asking the question, Why me?

Live your days with an open heart and a watchful eye, Daniel. Things don't happen to us, but rather for us...so they say. You wrote with your heart. I loved it. Thanks for sharing

Thank you, Robert. It is after all just a poem. I appreciate you seeing it as that. Sometimes we just simply write poems and they do not necessarily reflect OUR life. Peace my friend. I appreciate you:)

Sounds like your heart has reached a new low. If I could I would kidnap you and make you laugh so much you would spend the rest of your life writing about the pain of belly laughing! I am only one of many here who care about your wellbeing. Tomorrow will be a better day my friend.

Dreams can be as dangerous as the heart is treacherous. My days of asking, 'why me,' are over. Take life in stride, be as good as God expects, and good things will happen...positive attitude.

Just get lonely sometimes, ya know. I'm a people person and I haven't taught Buddy how to talk yet. LOL Sure would be nice to spend an evening with you and have a nice human conversation. I am as good as God expects me to be, I hope! Peace dear Peaches:)
