In memoriam: Sinéad O'Connor

Sinéad O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U (Official Music Video) [HD] - YouTube

Given to rejoicing of her talent, but born neither for this time nor this world, when doves cry: knowledge of her is latent, in the raw state and unfettered hurled at a pseudo adoring, fickle crowd. But born neither for this time nor this world, she rose above the petty disavowed that was the hallmark of entertainment. At a pseudo adoring, fickle crowd she bowed as though in ecstasy contentment. With the bright lights trained on her every move, that was the hallmark of entertainment, there was no escaping and had to proof her right to existence in a quandary. With the bright lights trained on her every move, no one respected privacy boundary. Given to rejoicing of her talent, her right to existence in a quandary, when doves cry knowledge of her is latent.

You expressed the tumultuous and yet caring spirit in an age of contritely surfaced musical arena of gloss conformity. I too played the song today. Beautiful image it looks like her!

Yes, I am still saddened by her untimely death. There was scant news coverage of her funeral today (8 August).

A beautiful tribute, Dear Suzette! What a mesmerizing song - although I am not very much familiar with her songs, this video made me emotional and brought tears to my eyes. Your poem is wonderful, in an excellent poetic form. Thank you for sponsoring a great contest - I learned from your detailed explanations of the form.

Excellent subject choice, and fittingly, she voices a Prince song. This captures, so perfectly, the spirit of Craig’s contest…well done Suzette.

Beautiful Suzette - this was the first single I bought with a gift voucher I'd got for Christmas and I listened to it (on vinyl) many times then and over the years. She mesmerized so many people. I love your poem which encapsulates the vibe and struggles x

Gone too soon. Mental health is real, but few people understand it. Thanks for the accolade, DD

Loved her! Nothing compares to that video she did of the song of the same title. I question some of her lifestyle choices later on, but she was truly gifted. So curious as to the cause of death. Hope it wasn't suicide as was the case with her son. Great tribute.

I had, and still admire, her great talent. I understand from the reports put out by British newspapers, that she had committed suicide - the loss of her 17 year old son was too much for her to bear. The exact date of her passing has not as yet been established. I wished to celebrate her life with this poem, also the song title of one that Prince wrote.

Nice tribute. Didn't really know her and probably never would have heard of her either, being a distracted American, if she had not "blown up" the Catholic Church, but hearing about her instant reaction, received from my own saintly psyche, an instantaneous "AMEN"! If the leader of the Christian community, who I understand to be Christ himself, is not about "LIBERTY", then he's an unmitigated fraud and needs to be packed-away with all other historical anachronisms.

She had torn up a photograph of the Pope as it was similar (if not the actual one) to the one that hung on the wall above her mother's bed. She had suffered abuse at the hands of her mother, and as a child, this had nearly broken her. Her voice is unique.

Thank you, Jo. I thought the topic warranted the poetic form.
