Notes About The Poem

He found a lost puppy when the battle was over.   Posted 25th July 2023

When Doves Cry

I stand before you gathered here, honored to pay tribute today,
To the unknown soldier, who typifies all soldiers come what may.

She is a daughter, a mother, a sister, He is a son, a father, a brother,
Willing to step up to protect us all, A soldier, a sailor, aviator or other,

We owe a debt that can never be repaid. No matter how each did roam,
Brave young men and women, many broken, some didn’t come home
.
Life altering actions. The hardship they endured, the horror they saw.
Let us bow our heads and pray there’ll be an end soon, to every war.

True even those that made it home, broken minds heard the doves cry.
They were not properly looked after, some homeless, decided to die.

World leaders and religious heads, join us now, stop ordering them to go.
We are humans put on earth to love one another; this you should know.

If its so important to enlist violence you leaders, step in and have a go.
Take guns, tanks, missiles and land mines, we will all watch the show.

My tribute to the unknown soldier is at an end. May he rest in peace.
And may we all acknowledge the need for all war and fighting to cease.

Oh, how exquisitely crafted, SV. Our collective yearning for the majestic flight of peace doves remains unquenched, for alas, their mournful cries reach our ears. The theater of war has ruthlessly seized the spotlight, casting peace into eternal exile. Consequently, lives are tragically extinguished, bodies marred, and innocents left bereft of parental embrace. Your impassioned plea for harmony is profoundly cherished, and your homage to the valiant soldiers is unequivocally admired.

All I can say is thank you my dear friend. The rest is in my heart but if I let it out I am sure to cry.

We all wish to see the doves of peace soaring high. Unfortunately we hear their cries. War has talken center stage and peace is vanquished for ever. As a result, many lose their lives , many are maimed and children and mothers become orphans. Your exhortation for peace is so much appreciated and your tribute to the soldiers is much admired.,

I’d love to see our leaders, on horseback charging into battle with lances… up their fancy asses! Ain’t gonna happen, but a guy can dream. Very well said ‘Speaky’ Terry

Oh Poor horses ! Make em march like our boys and girls had to do. Yeah you are right Terry. When I was a kid I wrote a poem called Suppose they gave a war and nobody came. Its long lost.. and that too will never happen. Thanks for your comment Terry. Best wishes from Speaky.

I like your challenge to the leaders to go and fight, Once it comes to them, wars would not exist.

I totally agree that wars are horrendous and should be and eventually will be stopped by The Almighty Himself. However there are evil, selfish people in this world who want to take our freedom and the wealth of our land away from us and if good men and women don't stand up and fight for what is right then bad men will take over. Men like Edie Amin, Saddam Hussein and Adolf Hitler who killed thousands just because they could. A fine write . God Bless, JB

Judy I wonder if those men would be so evil if they were sent onto a battle field alone to fight other world and religious leaders. I think the evil in them would turn to cowardess. Thanks for your cmment.

Yes, if politicians had to go to war, there wouldn't be any.

So true Paul. That goes for both sides of any conflict. I suspect there are many cowards among world leaders. Thank you for taking the time to read my poem. Best wishes SV
