When and Then

When I proceed to look at life as gloomy, endless strife- When I lay down my dreams to rest- give up their mighty quest- When love's warm embers cease to burn- makes heart an icy urn- When from God's grace I flee! Then life has had enough of me. Sandra M. Haight ~4th Place~ Contest: When and Then Sponsor: Jenish Somadas Judged: 01/23/2020

We are the owner of our happiness and still if we couldn't make our life happy, then life has had enough of us.. Sad but great lines.. Congrats on your winning poem and thanks for participating in the contest.

Sandra, I have read hundreds of your poems and I believe this is the darkest I have ever read from you. Of course this is only my interpretation. Such utter despair! If anyone has ever suffered from depression, they will totally relate to this poem.

Dear Daniel, so nice of you to visit my poem and leave your comment. Yes, it is depressing, but it is only my statement of what if- WHEN. So it is just a warning, not a reality! I hope you are doing well! Hugs, Sandra
