What Was Special About This One
Sam knew as soon as he saw her
that he might never find another woman
more like his mom.
He asked his sister to turn this stranger right side up
and find her shoe, and maybe put her dress down.
Because she was hanging out of her driver's door
upside down, with her legs askew and a missing shoe
His sister rolled her eyes.
He usually looked under rocks for his women.
What was so special about this one?
Then she saw how disheveled she was
and immediately thought of their alcoholic mother
who had looked for love in all the wrong places
namely bars all of her life
