What If

What if religion is merely a way to keep the masses in line?
A way to keep us in check?
A way to keep us from killing each other?
Maybe that would be enough actually.

What if religion is based more on fear than love?
Look at the Crusades and the missionaries
Converting others away from their spirituality
in favor of one they think is superior. Sadly.

What if there were five books of the Bible about reincarnation
But the Bible editors tossed them out,
because they wanted the status quo to think they only had one chance?
What if there were ten or twenty such books?

What if there were seven or eight books of the Bible
Giving women names, sharing they were more than equal?
Stating they were superior? What if the men decided to get rid of them
So they could keep their women chattel?

What if?
What if?
What if?
What if?
What if?

ah!...then...to quote 'consider this' (a book title) seems appropriate.... ...does the universe have meaning? ...do humans love the irrational? ...are questions more important than answers? ……...eh! religion is just a way of avoiding questions....
