A little scribble for Tom Woody's What are we contest..  Based on the painting below by Paul Gauguin titled Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?

The mind is a phenomena, questioning a journey we are unable to predict, but what are we but specks of dust, floating in an endless universe. What are we but seekers of the unknown, forever pondering meaning and belonging. With so many paths, so many directions, what do we actually control? Some follow guidance from men in robes, ancient scriptures and spirits from statues, some prefer philosopher's words - others become students of science. We know there was a beginning, so we contemplate what will be at the end. So much is spoken, yet there is too much unexplained, so we connect with 'opinion.' In spheres of spirituality our soul resides within us, but we search for acceptance, to be understood, for some to be remembered. Some find it inside attractive structures, others in natural landscapes. We are all forests with a waterfall flowing through us. We are more than flesh protecting our bones. We are physical beings with an emotional existence. Where we face adversity and tribulations. Some become sensitive, some stronger. There is no permanent sadness, nor everlasting happiness - we are like sandcastles waiting to be washed away. We are vessels of compassion. Harmony is the absence of ego, we have the power to bring joy upon the earth we walk. In a society full of makeshift machines, it's important to remember we are humans.

Dear Silent One, This is such a deep penning so rich with imagery. "We are all forests with a waterfall flowing thru us" and especially, "sand castles waiting to be washed away". Very spiritually cleansing poem here.

We are bound, unhappy, naked in hopes and truths, ignored, wanted and unwanted. A lot is going on in this piece and it hits every corner. Shows a landscape of varieties and I love the metaphors. You're such a great poet Dear, Silent. "but we search for acceptance, to be understood, for some to be remembered." And for some to find worthiness. Congratulations on your beautiful win.

"We are physical beings with an emotional existence. Where we face adversity and tribulations. Some become sensitive, some stronger." - This poem is a deep introspection into one's one's own self, his identity and the meaning and purpose of life with some everlasting truths like.... "There is no permanent sadness, nor everlasting happiness "- The philosophical conclusions of your poem show how deeply you have probed into the subject. Congratulations Silent One on your well deserved trophy win.

Beauty in Gauguin's Tahitians, how he loved to paint them, great choice for this trophy winner SO. We search and research on our journey's become followers of many, trends etc. and that's what we do. I love your philosophies and you have an amazing mind. In the end it's how we do it (express our minds) in poetry. Congratulations on well-deserving Didactic! :)

Lovely writing, though I disagree and truly believe there IS a permanent sadness, and an everlasting happiness! I'm most certain of that fact. But, love your poem as is usual. Congrats and Much love, Gina

Hey you got the big one. Congrats. What I loved about this was its relative ambiguity. No side-taking, no dogma, unanswered questions yet ever searching. For God, for relevance, for acceptance, for love. In the end we are humans, always striving. Nice

Harmony is indeed the absence of ego,but we live in a world where so many are egoistic and also are stuck in the psyche where joy gratitude and happiness is just a forgotten myth, sinners judging sinners for sinning differently and preach as if they arent flawed. What a hypocritical life and world we live in and the picture depicts that too but i see weakness of humankind as one follows whats known from many moons ago, “ We are all forests with a waterfall flowing through us” love that! Powerful best wishes.

How powerful: we are like sandcastles waiting to be washed away...and yet we sense that we are more than this. Hugs ~ Kim

It is indeed important to remember we are humans. Fallible, flawed, very individual. Each with a unique experience through life. And... how we define ourselves or see the world colored by what we frame it with... which in turn is colored by what tiny fraction of human understanding we encounter on this trip through.
