My heart never fails Skips a beat every time Too many vocally ecstatic over Our warm balmy winters Proud to proclaim Their good fortune At the cost of the planet Ignorant or arrogant Not embarrassed a bit Don’t usually bite my lip Before pointing out Arctic wildlife pay the price Magnificent polar bears On serious decline Wide-eyed victims of global warming AP: 1st place 2022, Honorable Mention 2022 Submitted on November 5, 2017 for contest POLAR BEARS sponsored by JULIA WARD - RANKED 3RD

A wonderful write and a well-deserved win - just love this, Line! I saw yesterday someone had posted a "funny" picture of a polar bear on a small iceberg, clinging for life, and it was starving - just skin and bone ... it had some stupid, careless comment that made a joke out of it, but all I saw was horror, because it's happening a lot. They are starving and the ice is disappearing, while we stay warm in our oil-fueled houses. Blessings, my friend. <3

Agree, Gregory. It's such a tragedy that global warming is affecting animals in such a visible way.

Oh..good I am not the only one that feels that way. I like the bears no matter what type of bears they are.I feel sad that the polar bears are on the decline. Have a nice evening my friend.
