What a Fate

Santa lay Sick on bed all through day, Unable to wake up, as if dead. It was going to be Christmas, he thought with dread Doctor said, he was too fat being overfed To get through chimney, he must lose weight Now, should wait at each gate. What a fate!

What do doctors know? Yet, the reindeer had all curiously developed hernias. Hmm. Delightful, and healthful. We do tend to overdue it around holidays.

I love the humour in your poem. Made me smile, especially as my new poem is about Christmas frolic.

Dear Valsa, This is such a clever, slightly dark twist on a classic! I love that you focused on the logistical nightmare of the situation. The idea of him having to wait at the gate instead of sliding down the chimney is a fantastic punchline. Thanks for the laugh! Autumn Blessings, Dear Valsa, Daniel

Thinking outside the box on this one, Valsa. Yes, a little weight loss would do him good. Thanks for sharing this one with us. I got a chuckle. With the new meds on the market, it should not be hard to lose the weight. This one reads like a good contender to me for the contest. Way to go. Sara K

I liked reading about how Santa's big day can go so very wrong. You showed a lot of imagination. He does seem to get fatter each year.
