Our public toilets have been locked to stop people from stealing The depths that some folk stoop to is really quite revealing They stole the toilet paper from dispensers on the wall And hand sanitiser from the sink folk were left with none at all The actions of selfish people have spoilt it for the rest And if you’ve bladder issues you’re now put to the test There’s no toilets available if caught short when out shopping Beware of people in the aisles if they’re crossed legged and hopping! 03/30/20

Coronavirus reminds me of back in the days of my grandparents telling us about rationing, we now just have too much at our disposal nowadays, good old fashioned rationing doesn't do us any harm, try back in the days of ripped up newspaper to wipe the bits, lockdown is doing us all good, I say . . . : )

Got to agree with you Indiana its making folk a lot more appreciative of what we do have and who would have thought loo roll would be the cause of riots in some shops!:-( hugs Jan xx

Your humour on full display here Jan, even as you describe the nasty nature of some selfish rascals. Your title reminds of the old newsflash joke: "Precinct toilets stolen - police have nothing to go on". Thanks for the chuckle!

Nicely said, Jan, what is this world coming too when people are stealing. My brother is a manager in a retailing store. They had a man come in waving his money around wanted and insisted he wanted to buy the whole pallet of toilet paper. They told him no , there was a limit, 1 per person. The man through such a temper tantrum , he want out knock displays over.

Toiletries are rationed here as well, 2 rolls per person, the same for paper towels. While your poetry had me laughing, Jan, the reality hasn't. As Mozart once told his sister Nannerl in a letter: If you eat less, you'll s--- less, thereby extending the life of the tissue paper. Whereas catastrophies often bring out the best in us, they also bring out the worse. A timely poem for needed laughter. / M

Love your comment to Jan’s poem! We all need to think about eating less! I care a great deal more about paper towel, tissue and toilet paper usage then before this.

I couldn't believe it Anne Lise but yes all the public loos in the villages have been closed because of such selfish actions by the minority:-( hugs Jan xx

It is SO simple! Stay at home and instantly masks, medical staff, hospital beds, ventilators, toilets and toilet paper become available to a loved one - or employer. But, as Karma and you have pointed out, "Me first" attitudes boomerang with consequences compounded. "Knees together" in this! Aloha! Rico

Hahahaha! How about if they're cross-eyed and doubled-over?! LOL. Great one, even though it is really nothing to laugh about. Hahahaha. I once had a bad case of diarrhea and had to use newspaper. Ouch! Long time ago... :) gw

ouch poor you GW, trouble is the sewers are getting blocked if people cant get loo roll so its double trouble in the end. I just cant believe how selfish folk are to steal and then inconvenience (pardon the pun) others:-( hugs Jan xx

This is reinforcement of the selfishness and greed that's become so prevalent in the world even before this pestilence. Your verses are factual proof, Jan.

Thanks Lin, I didn't want to do 'virus poems' but this one just HAD to be written. it beggars belief what Tom said about stealing from hospitals!:-( hugs jan xx

This crisis brings out the best and the worst in people, I heard of hand sanitizer being stolen from hospitals. Some people couldn't stoop any lower if they tried. The I'm alright Jack, stuff everyone else brigade. Makes my blood boil. Tom

They are the lowest of the low to steal from the hospitals especially at such a time of crisis it beggars belief anyone could do it to deprive those in dire need. All the public toilets are closed in our village and the next one - surely they could keep them open and let people take their own sanitiser and loo roll - I keep both in my pocket. I am sure I am not the only one who would use the facilities if we took our own products:-( hugs jan xx
