We’ve Lost Our Way

It seems somewhere along the way we’ve lost our sight and gone astray. The left turned left, the right turned right, and in between there is no light. ********** ”No room for us to compromise because our way is much more wise. And since you don’t agree with me you surely are my enemy.” **** “We’ll take you down no mind the cost recalling all the dreams we’ve lost. With freedoms we will not depart allowing you to own our heart.” ********** I say to you these thoughts above show deeply seeded lack of love. We’ve spoken rhetoric of hate with great divisions as of late. We’ve put this hatred on display; it seems somehow we’ve lost our way.

We most certainly have lost our way. So much anger and wanting to be in total control of everything now. And as your lines say "since you don't agree with me you surely are my enemy" says it all. Worrying, frightening and dangerous times. Hope you have been keeping well John. Hugs, Emilia : )

Hi Emilia, so good to hear from you! Things have been busy but I hope to begin a new chapter next year. I hope all has been well with you. Yes, this poem is about our crazy world and it gets worse by the day. I think we are beyond the point of no return. Take care. Hugs, John

Our grandsons still give me hope John. Our eldest is 5 and the other two identical twin boys are now 1 month old. About your poem. I think it well balanced and someone has to say these things to get others to rethink. I like fact you kept it neutral and not doom and gloom but highlighting the need for action to fix. Best regards David in NZ

Thanks, David, I tried my best to write this from a neutral point of view. It seems like politics is becoming more and more about bashing your opponent and not about what you see as a problem and what you plan to do to fix it. I hope all is well in NZ. John

We certainly have lost our way, John, as the Sages Say: No one fills up with the anger of hate, unless there first enters into him 'a spirit of nonsense.' (Badly translated there. Sorry about that. Hopefully, the idea comes through). Love and Respect, Gershon

' Since you don’t agree with me, you surely are my enemy. ' Sad, but true. What happened was uncalled for and wrong on many levels. This is tender and emotional, all at the same time. So much truth is tangled within. Your thoughts touch my heart so deeply. I'm praying for change, in the right direction. Many wonderful blessings to you, my sweet friend. Hugs, Brandy

These times are tangled with confusion, misinformation and mistrust; truth is a vague conception. The only thing we know for sure is that the sun still rises in the east and will always set in the west; what happens in between is anyone's guess. Thanks for sharing your thoughts my dear friend. Hugs, John

When you see what's going on around the world and even closer to home you can't help but wonder is it the beginning of the end. Wars, religious and political hate along with greed are fanning the flames. Hope you're keeping well John. Tom

So true, Tom. I've lived a good life so I don't worry too much about it, but I fear what my kids and grandkids might be faced with. John

It was prophesied in the book of Daniel ch 9 and also at 2 Timothy ch 3 that mankind would become fractured like never before. Selfishness, greed and hatred are root causes. Mankind, did they ever truly find their way? History would suggest not. Awesome poem

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Tommy. Personally, I would prefer these prophesies not come true in my lifetime, but perhaps we have gone too far to turn the tide.

Hi, John and sorrowfully your well written lines expose the truth. Undeclared civil war has plummeted us into battles that will have no one emerge as the winner. It's still black against white, Republicans against Democrats... rampaging elephants against braying asses. It's good to read your post and hope all is well with you, my westerly neighbor.

Hi Lin, thanks for sharing your thoughts and comments. These are scary times we are living in. I am hoping the events of Saturday afternoon will cause more people to take pause and reflect on the things they are saying and doing. Otherwise, it will be every man for himself, and we will all need to take up arms to survive. All is well as I am enjoying the Texas summertime. Hope all is well with you.
