Wesak: Vision Quest

(linked Sijo)

Outside my tent
a circle of gray stones
a place for fire

my heart heavenward
no hat, no shoes, no shirt
under a cloudless blue.

a little chipmunk
scurries out of my tent
No eagle in the sky,

Soon I forget the river's song,
falling asleep in the deepening darkness,
in the moonrise, I listen again

It gives a feeling of being on a great vision quest .

Thomas, your poem was wonderfully penned, 7, and do not be disappointed with the chipmunk, they are an animal that survives hardships even though a small size, it threatens no other creature and lives a life of peace and thanks for visiting my poem, I, Poet
