Weeping Willow Tree
Majestic, mighty, oozing strength and power,
green tendrils softly swirling, encircling,
reaching low to meet the grass and earth,
watching, listening, absorbing the world.
Wise old tree, share with me your knowledge,
Give me your strength, let me lean on you.
Wrap around me your tender branches,
and allow me to weep in your embrace.
Let me share your roots, grounding my feet
into the soil, but hiding me away.
Sunlight filters through like fingers of hope,
telling me all will soon be repaired.
Be my sanctuary, where I escape from care,
a constant protector from life’s sorrow.
With arms about your knotted, sturdy girth,
sap, like balm, calms my troubled mind.
You have weathered many storms, like me,
and here you are, still strong and proud,
not defeated by the fiercest gales,
resilient, solid, standing up to the world.
From you I receive peace and tranquillity,
strength to carry on from day to day.
Together we will survive a while longer.
Thank you, my beautiful willow tree.
