* For my prep school bud, Bruce, and his wife Mary * ~ A cherished phrase - sweet, smiling face Fond mem'ries from that time and place When youth was wasted, rich and fallow Bright, our dreams, if crazed and callow ... Still, we've made broad paths from then And found these hearts, now, richer men Though while they may have weary thrum We've more adventures yet should come ... The darkest times sow brighter treasure The gifts that come beyond our measure With depth and breadth that never ends Those dearest things, a lifetime's friends ... That pledge and more ... is what this sends!
