We Hate Him Now

I used to love my dad the sad eight-year-old boy said. But we hate him now! You should hear him yell at my mother! He is rotten, lousy, a snake. He is a liar and he keeps all the money to himself. We really hate him. He is selfish. When does he yell at your mother? I ask. I am curious for they have been divorced for a long time. He yelled at her on Wednesday! At your house? On the phone. How do you know? Mom puts him on speaker so we can hear. We really really really hate him now! Tears are coming. I have a strong feeling that “we” means she.

What in the world is this woman thinking. She certainly isn't thinking about what she is doing to her child! I am so angry. I guess that means that poem is extremely effective, well-defined, and well-written. Yep, it is!
