We Gave Something Up

Despite all the patches
of thorns and fire
that are constantly laid between us
and the darts and spears
you vomited at me
with your cold blooded tongue
I still cherish the positivity
we both kept toward each other
we still laughed
shared our burdens and secrets
between one another
but since now we are older
and have now all grown up
we had both gave something up
and departed our separate ways
like tumble weeds drifting away
in the prevailing winds
to seek other people of our own kind
while you focus on finding your kindred
I will now focus on finding mine
