We Do Not Speak of Love

We do not speak of love.
Philosophies entwine, bridge and bind
The careful space between us.
We do not speak of love.
A fingertip might sometimes touch;
If it lingers, who can count the time?
We do not speak. Our eyes
Ignite the atmosphere!
We seize, we hold, we lie together
Kind to kind, fear to fear;
We rise, pull some words around us
Of physio-chemical attraction,
Neuroses interacting
We do not speak of love.

Writers are not made, they are born with the gift as you were!

How very kind of you to say so! I do have to tell you a story. I went to a writers' group, local. I read aloud a piece intended to be a child's voice, beginning with "Us kids.." The leader took me aside so as not to embarrass me. "It's properly 'we' when a subject..." she said. Elizabeth

Elizabeth, I love the line "Philosophies entwine, bridge and bind". So many good phrases... here's to eyes igniting the atmosphere! Enjoyed the read ~ John

Emotive write Elizabeth. Powerful in its simplicity. I like your "...pull some words around us..." line.
