We Are Together
WE ARE TOGETHER
She was my lovable student
twelve years younger than me,
considered me most prudent
adviser and guide in her periphery.
She left college in mid-career.
After fifteen years I met her again
as devoted wife, dutiful home-maker
and loving Mom of two children.
Suddenly she discovered her husband,
as cheat, liar and betrayer,
involved in another relationship and
always misbehaving and abusing her.
Completely shattered, she burst in tears,
asking my help as her only mentor.
What to do? Where to go? She was in fear.
She put me in position of her rescuer.
How could I explain to my student?
Five years back me too faced same trauma,
finding my husband as prurient
felt ashamed apprehending social stigma.
Made her convinced, ’Discard, make a surgery
to separate malignant wound from life.
Not to indulge emotion, but to act on bravery.
Tears are not solution in this contempt and strife.
We are strong getting together,
being birds of same feather.
