Warrior, Cast Down To Earth, To Dark Beast Smite " From what magical realm do you now flee, With silver belted sword and bright armor, And awesome power of a Hercules, Gifted with the face of a true charmer?" "From Odin's realm, Halls of Valhalla's best, With power of Thor and orders to smite, Deep darkness in this world, at your bequest, Return good, drive away beasts of the night." "I give thy master greatest of my vows, Purest in his faith, holding firm his creed, Drink wine of his grapes, milk of sacred cow, If failing this, may my life away bleed." "Indeed, as such would be true if thee fail, For thy hand and faithful heart have both sworn, To Master of Realm, where light never pales, To serve mightiest of heroes there born." " I pray thee, again here my vow, sworn words, In true honor and piety given, Pleadings from we wretched swept into herds, As slaves with no hope of ever liven'." "Fail thee not of thy honor and brave heart, I was sent to slay that foulest of beasts, Destroy its wandering hordes, rip apart, Its ravenous jaws, stop its nightly feasts." "I pray thee success and with grateful soul, Beg thy master that thee comes to no harm, Thy course is set to honorable goal, I now see no cause for future alarm." "Fear not my lady, this shall now be done, My sword now drawn, I go to dark beast slay, Victory's sign shall be red setting sun, From this night's moon, see me flying away." "I pray thee, thy heart and sword-arm cuts true, Thy courage wavers not, thy blows hit hard, Our love, deepest respect thus flies with you, Our hero warrior, our Odin sent guard." Robert J. Your epic story-telling is magnificent, Robert. Your beautiful poem is wrapped in Scandinavian legend and lore and powerfully portrayed. An absolutely enthralling poem, I especially love the spectacular imagery of your last two stanzas! Warmest wishes, my friend.. ~Susan
