Warm Soup

For a week or two
my soup was cold

my thoughts and rhymes
weren't in the bowl

now the soup begins to warm
and my words are free to form

Nice rhyme ,,, I read your thoughts on Pride Prudjudice. I loved Colin Firth in the first one 1995. Then here comes 2005 with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyenm.

This 'Warm Soup' sounds and tastes like 'Freedom Soup', the famous Haitian soup (Soup Joumou).

You made me smile Mark as my muse has gone awol I have had little time for soup or writing and its so unlike me but maybe my husbands cancer therapy recently has given me something else to focus on but now we are back home the muse is showing signs of coming out of hiding at last:-) hugs Jan x

Congratulations Mark, with this poem being featured on the site homepage. Sometimes, words need to gather before they are placed upon the page. Patience is a Virtue. I am happy the words found you and your muse. :) Brandy

Hi Mark - I can see that this was written awhile ago, but I just jumped into the soup a few weeks ago, and just wanted to say I do love this poem. You say so much with a one powerful metaphor and a few words.

Dear Mark, thank you for asking about me. I'm still at the site but not as much as I used to be. I see you haven't posted a new poem in awhile either. Hope you are still writing. I've been trying to get a better balance with my writing and getting back to submitting for print publication. I enjoyed reading this poem again today. Have a wonderful weekend. Karen

What a great poem! I love the simplicity of it and the unusual analogy. It's very clever!

Mark, where are you? You turned the soup pot on and left the stove. The pot is running over. Time for you to get back here and clean up the mess you left behind. Love, Carol
