Walk Around You laughed with me, You walked with me, You talked, all night long. You took me places, You sang funny songs… You made me smile. Then. You made sweet promises. You married me. You would be there, You would not waiver, You would know, You told me to have faith. You and I had children. You and I had a house, You paid the bills, You told me to stay home. You had me raise the kids, You new things were wrong, You closed your eyes, You did not care, Your heart was not at home. Then. You changed your mind.

I shed a tear or two - a shared life is a happy life - promises are for keeps and if not kept cause painful disharmony - dear friend, so sad. Hugs and Blessings Anne, Jennifer.

More so that I am not alone, as I wish I was... so many believe in forever, to have things go so far amiss... fault or not, it never without pain... pretty yellow flowers that smile in the rain Ann

When two come together it is a joyous thing. Broken promises hurt so much. A touching write, dear Ann!

Thank you, sweet lady. Kind words and truth combined. I have found betrayal and divorce to be extremely close to the grief of death itself. In ways worse, as they keep hurting you for years after, if they can. So very sad indeed. small tiny roses, ringed in blue tuxedo leaves of gold... Ann

This is a sad reality. There are many who miss out on the riches that come when commitment and covenant is honoured. My wife and I have been together for 26 years. I choose to see her in beautiful ways. Each day I discover a new way.

A shared burden is very light indeed. A shared love is glorious. You sound like a real hero. Your wife is blessed. Carnations and small flowers... Ann

So it seems...everyone must live their lives...one should not depend on the other...As your poem clearly states...promises are made to be broken...

Not sure if they are made that way, perhaps those that make them, never understood the real word, "promise". Others can not keep theirs, and others never try. So very sad indeed, speaks volumes about our society. :) Ann

Twenty years, penned in twenty minutes. My friend is beside herself, but it is not an uncommon destination at all. So very heartbreaking. They just "change their mind", when life gets too hard for them, leaving their partner standing in the desert, alone... Carnations and a few pieces of fern...for your table or desk today. Have a good day my friend. Ann
