Waking Up At Dawn
Waking up at dawn
with incandescent lights
on my subdued frawn...
receding to warm sheets;
recognizing the petrel's flight
with the hawks pursuing it in delight,
while spiders hang on dusty webs
and the incessant thrush sings...
Waking up at dawn
with sunken eyes,
not wanting to meet sunlight;
a little morose,but gladsome...
I glance at the maples,
submerged in intense light,
as the wagtails tap
on my moist window
to greet me with a cheerful chirp...
Waking up at dawn
with departing lovely dreams,
I grope uncertainly amid visions;
no full moon rises above the bright horizon,
and with no night passion to inflame me:
I reckon another inevitable aspect of reality...
