Notes About The Poem

7/10/2022

The Doomsday Clock's current time: It is 100 seconds to midnight, according to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.  The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists was founded in 1945 by Albert Einstein and University of Chicago scientists who helped develop the first atomic weapons in the Manhattan Project.  Two years later, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists created the Doomsday Clock, using the imagery of apocalypse (midnight) and the contemporary idiom of nuclear explosion (countdown to zero) to convey threats to humanity and the planet. The Doomsday Clock is set annually by the Bulletin’s Science and Security Board in consultation with its Board of Sponsors, which includes 13 Nobel laureates. The Clock has become a universally recognized indicator of the world’s vulnerability to catastrophe from nuclear weapons, climate change, and disruptive technologies in other domains. In March 2022, the Science and Security Board released a new statement in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. —Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists  https://thebulletin.org/doomsday-clock/current-time

This sounds a bit scary Mark.. The thought of doomsday always scare.me. That would be a horrible day. You penned this Haiku pretty well.. It is quite thoughtful... Blessings

What’s interesting to me is that the scientists who created the first atomic weapons saw the need to warn of threats to humanity and the planet. In spite of that, I have strong confidence and hope in a future of peace and not calamity. Thank you for stopping by, Paghunda.

Every day we inch closer, it makes me fear for the world we are leaving our children, if any~

It’s a valid concern, Michelle. In spite of that, I have strong confidence and hope in a future of peace and not calamity.

hmm, I wonder what this translates to in "days" or "weeks" or "months" I do believe we are in for VERY bad times. I think it's a matter of months, maybe a few years or so if we are lucky. I guess time will tell. GOOD one, Mark, and I am so pleased you liked my song lyrics.

We live in critical times hard to deal with for sure. If you ever find the original music that went along with your lyric I would like to hear it.
