Waiting For the Show

They're working in my fields today,
Inserting orb surprises
And I will have a front row seat
As stunning beauty rises.

The planted fields are quietly
Protecting hidden treasure
That will in six short month unfold
To beauty beyond measure.

I will be here to see it all
When green spears first appear
As public notice to the fact
There'll be a show this year.

The weatherman has the last word
On when to raise the curtain
For these glories of our valley.
The exact time is uncertain.

It's for sure they'll bloom in April,
Maybe early, maybe late.
The wisest tourist calls ahead
To ask expected date.

I will be cheered thorugh winter's cold,
Just knowing what's to come;
The glorious tulips being timed
By Nature's pendulum.

I don't know where you live, but up here in No California...you might not have such a long wait! My daffodils (I have hundreds up and down the long drive to our house) are budded already, and may be blooming by February. Bet the scene from your window is glorious!!! I love tulips!! ~ Carrie
