Wages of Sin
“The wages of sin is death”* says God’s Word
Showing man’s transgression-caused damnation
Revealing corrupt, carnal, foolish mind
Midst deceitful heart, gruesomely defiled.
I need deliverance from sin’s wages
Only the Sovereign Lord can fulfill
He’s the Saviour, the Way, the Truth, and Life
Rescuing sinners to the uttermost.
Verily falling short of God’s glory
I admit my depravity indeed
Yes, my self-proclaimed goodness is failure
Inflicted with human nature’s sin blight.
Learning sin’s wages as grossly fatal
I humbly sought the Lord and His mercies
With full pardon and complete forgiveness
To free my soul from condemnation’s hell.
“Acquitted from sin’s wages!” Judge pronounced…
Paid by Christ’s blood, I’m surely sanctified
Now justified, verily heaven-bound
I’ll blissfully share eternal life’s gift.
*Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
