I’m a treasure more valuable than gold,
Once a heart stops beating – after the breath stops
Breathing, I am the most cherished possession,
Worth more than expensive jewelry or the best assets
More important, I am – than most anything
More essential than the most notable fortunes
I’m like the reflection glowing, the twinkle of eyes,
The music in the heart who smiles, the color – hues
Of laughter and insight, wisdom that prays
For God to sustain, the song of sweetest grace
Being felt by those who appreciate my inspiration,
Comprehend my beauty, with the realization
That, with this expression, I can stir up spirits –
Kindle heart’s wonders, the feelings that bring love
Love much louder than thunder, much more alive
Than the fear that tries to decide where I’m placed –
Up on a shelf or on a wall, within reach – beside a bed,
Where I’ll ever be echoing these feelings,
These memories who reassure that there has been…
Love that means more than gilded treasures,
More than a heart can possibly measure….
More than dreams or ambitions, more than wishes
More than fantasies or wasted moments when….
There wasn’t a thought of what time would bring,
The final word, the final hug, the finality of death –
Such a lasting thing
Then, some hold onto me like a precious thing,
Because I have the memory – a living event, a pearl
Past, yet still alive inside that frame, where a heart
Can see the magnificent and the same moment…
The inspirational, the beautiful, the brilliant whisper
A celebration of the moment, overwhelmed by sweetness,
The memory of yesterday when I was still only a piece
Of the feeling, the occasion, the everyday…
Promised by time, which fades beyond the gentling
Expressions of a heart who can see…
It is this memory that refreshes the feeling, the sense
Impressing on the heart, the soul – a thought,
Yesterday, the moment, one time when we were exposing
Joy, wonder, warmth inside the one who snaps
That memory into a treasure, a pearl of our affection,
A gem to be hoarded and cherished by those who remember –
This life is so short and the only thing left of yesterday
Is the memory, torn from the mind who can only evoke
small, trembling pieces – like shadows, never forgetting
I’m the one hearts keep coming back to after
The fact, the feeling, the focus…
On a moment shattered by the ticktock of living,
The ending still leaves me a little blurry
With the memory, the lovely, the endlessness
Bought with a price, the price is my connection
With an inkling, a musing, a memory…
Emphasized by the swiftest clicking, the sensation
Who eclipses hopes and dreams, gasping
Feelings that leave the heart mesmerized
… by me, the photograph you're holding
