Virtueless
Where is Truth in a time of war?
First of the virtues left behind.
“We didn’t do it!” Vehemently swore.
Ghastly images fused to the mind.
Do we not share the same hopes and dreams?
Pursuing our personal independence.
As we plan, the power brokers scheme
With propaganda and the corruption of science.
Honour under pressure like metal, rusts,
Iron will against power and greed,
Evil wins in the form of mistrust.
Don’t feed the masses, feed the machine.
Next falls Justice, the long descent.
Murderers unpunished, set them free!
With eyes closed it’s hard to repent.
Toxic agents, crime in the streets.
Freedom is not a sandcastle virtue
To be washed away but a right,
Singular nature, broad in view,
For this precious, each man must fight.
