Violence of Mind

Once a nation Supremely white as driven snow, Singularly Christian, white and male, Purely untarnished, and aglow, Grandeur unparalleled in fairytale. Hence a grievance Punitively bold as bloody hellfire, Potently prosecuted in seats of power, Oppressively waged against objects of ire, Prisms of nonwhites seeking justice in the hour. Now a leader Colossally void as sterilized weaponry, Glibly sanctions white phobia and rage, Lethally enflames this proto-fascist fancy, As corporations provide aid to the rampage. Thus a faction Devoutly for leader, they stand down, Steadfastly ready for the order to kill, All woke-ish elitists, and enemies black and brown, That white men reclaim their rightful place at the till. Violence of mind Shocks no one in America, Where thugs are part of romantic lore. With our ascendant authoritarian replica, Are we ready for what washes ashore? Well done & congrats Thomas! alas...a universal epic to be sure, shift countries, skin colors & minority status, perhaps, as communities blend & representation blossoms, a stronger republic emerges, good work!

Unfortunately a violence of the mind often connects with the trigger of a gun. As you state, too often we elevate the thug to hero status. There is much in your piece to ponder. Your political writes, Thomas, stir debate + reflection concurrent with headline news that appall us. Another stellar write! Best wishes, Brian

happy NEW YEAR DR. WELLS. The poem reminds me why i love America/USA. mostly a generous nation that likes to be thanked for "good works." If ingratitude thumbs its butt at USA (to mix metaphors) then there is hell to pay. i really believe any other nation running things would do lots worse than USA

Yes dear friend. Buddhists sat, "There are no mistakes in the universe," because of symbiosis. Too many snails, fewer greens, but we have other food. Batsxare a nuisance, but better at reducing mosquitos than humans. In isolation, Trump is Andrew Jackson again. The hate if Native Americans etc., is appalling. But in this violent world, with Mafia & Bill Gates' "corporate capitalist violence even to Nature," Trump was contained better than Dems Wilson & FDR. Just balance ( admitting, I love the USA)
