Veteran's Day
Today I played the game of dread
To learn how long I might be dead
Just take forever minus now
And disconcert this furrowed brow
In sweet subtraction minus then
Add in the nights of dreams
And where I’ve wandered into when
Throw in another ten
Or was it five
Who cares
I’m so alive
Veterans have served you
As a veteran myself
I'd like to serve some of you again
I'm sure I'm not alone
But I was younger then and held a grudge
Now I'm simply thankful to the troops
