within him 
     roars a loud storm 
          of sheer 
               anxiety 
                    and a sense of dread...

hidden deep 
     beneath 
          a veneer 
               of calm.
                    a hero...
 
well-known for 
     steely fortitude;
          a soldier confronting 
               a... 
                    cancer diagnosis.

Diagnosis of cancer is shattering. Yet he veiled all his anxiety with 'steely fortitude'. A soul stirring poem. We all hide dread and depression under the veneer of a composed countenance. Beautifully written, dear Edward and Congratulations on your great win.

A soldier confronting cancer diagnosis? Thats scary and so well written about veiled dear EI, sometimes no one sees whats veiled beneath the strong and calm exterior , the anxiety,and dread, only God knows. What a deeply meaningful poem this is delivered with few words. In such a soulful and sincere manner. Love this! And felt this! A fave as well and best wishes
