Vastness of the Universe

A billion stars above lay witness to the never ending motions of the sea whose undulating waves roll cross the blue and crest on shorelines of infinity. The vastness of the universe leaves awe within this humble poet’s probing mind; I ponder the conclusions one may draw, what wonders lie beyond are left to find. As sands of time sift through the hour glass and days and weeks and years slip slowly by, I’ve come to realize I’ll ne’er surpass the bound’ries of this world I occupy. For we are but a speck in space and time forever bound within this paradigm. March 15, 2021

Truly, we will not find the edges of the universe John. Beautifully crafted sonnet of the way we exist in God's paradigm where each speck is needed and each is necessary. Congratulations on your win!

Thanks, George, with all the craziness in this world around us today I think it is good to take pause and ponder once in a while and contemplate exactly how we fit in. Have a great day my friend. John

The universe is a humbler, is it not?! You have expressed this so well... Specks that we are, at least we infuse our 'speckness' with tremendous meaning --- more than one can say for 'big rocks' like Jupiter! Another Bravo and Encore for you, O Poet. Light and Luminiscence, Gershon

It certainly gives you food for thought John, whats out there, are we alone? We're are left with more questions than answers, one day the mysteries of the universe will be revealed to us, but for now I'm in no hurry to find out. Tom

"We are but a speck in space and time" Yes, we are. The unknown can be frightening, yet fascinating all at the same time. Your thoughts curl gently around me. This is beautiful in so many amazing ways. Hugs, Brandy

When you look at the universe as a whole, we are indeed just a tiny speck; I sometimes ponder how we fit together in this giant puzzle of life. The unknown doesn’t frighten me but leaves me curious, wanting to know more. Hugs.

Judging from the first verse, you may find the sea makes you think in existential terms, John. The questions you ponder are the same ones I had when fishing 25 miles offshore. Love your final couplet -- it sums up the sonnet so well! Hugs, Carolyn
