Vanquishing Vampire Vixens, Part I

I. When Sal rode slowly into Victorville, he saw an empty street, buildings unfilled, Sol half-expected this, it’s why he was here, but even to him, it always looked weird. The letter they wrote had been clear on the cause: Vampires, they said, insults to God’s laws, the supernatural was Sol’s vocation, he hunted them throughout this great nation, Roaming the frontier, in search of his prey, for forty years not it had been this way. but it was his price, so he rode on in, no point in waiting, twas time to begin. It was noon, and the sun was very high, as he rode in he cast a probing eye, then he trotted past a tall bordello, in which every shudder had been pulled closed. He was no fool, this was clearly the lair, Sol could just burn it, leave without a care, but then a door opened across the street, out came a young woman, tattered in bare feet. He saw two bite-marks upon her neck, but she was in sunglight, she’d not drank yet, she said,”Good sir, you should ride from this place, before sundown, while you can still escape.” Sol smirked and said,”I was called to this town to kill vampires, watch me burn them down.” At this the woman fell down to her knees, “Please, don’t do that! You will kill my Billy!” Sol just frowned at the truth he’d learned, “You mean to say that your husband was turned?” She said,”Not just him, half of Victorville. They feed on the rest, if we resist, we’re killed.” Sol groaned softly, this made things harder, he stewed for a bit, then looked down at her, said,”Maybe I can save him, it’s hard to tell. Now bring me to whoever wrote for help.” She motioned him to a derelict store, and older man greeted them at the door, He said,”I heard you were a man of years?” Sol shrugged. “The Good Lord won’t let me grow sere. “I’m sure He’ll take me in His good time, until them monsters I’ve been tasked to find.” The man just frowned, motioned Sal forward, “Then I guess you and me must have a word. “My name is Allan, this here is Marie, they took her husband, and my wife from me. They feed on us both, one day they will kill, possessed by some fell and demonic will.” Sol sighed at this,”It’s a tale I’ve heard told, when turned to vampire, you lose your soul. But there is a chance that they will not burn, if I kill the one who made them all turn. “They’ll be who they were, but will remember the evil they did when they were monsters. Some people can’t take it, that’s a cold fact, so I must ask if you really want them back?” ...CONTINUES
