Come walk with me on the road of my life,
from the start to the distant horizon.
I'll keep it simple, apply Occam's knife,
hoping, with experience, to wisen.
Happiness is the state for me to seek.
I'll need a pretty wife, a good career.
This goal's chances seem vanishingly bleak.
On our journey, they seem to disappear.
Better to pursue the absolute truth -
Yet, the more I look for this holy grail,
what reveals itself to me as I sleuth
melts into nothing, as cold grows the trail.
I've learnt hope starts big as we strive and try,
Then grows small and dim as we age and die.
