Utopia

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.” Mahatma Gandhi We are all looking for utopia, a place peaceful and grand, a place with no wars or hatred, an amicably shared land. A world where all is lush and green and very plentiful. A land of riches where fruits and vegetables are bountiful. We will never reach this ideal if we continue with our discord, with years of ongoing wars started from the desire to worship one lord. Leaders with no moral compass and who are worshiped and followed, as more people are influenced as their values are lost and swallowed. We can treat others with respect as we nurture our peaceful sense of place, and with no need for continued hatred based on one’s religion, beliefs or race. We need to find ways to accept other's individuality and preferences, and not to react with violence or make hurtful or vulgar references. Let’s start to make small changes, treat others with kindness and acceptance, as we encounter ridicule as others try to control us and fight our reluctance. We can treat each other with love and kindness while accepting our diversity, as we struggle to find our own utopia, we do not want to keep fighting adversity. 11/6/22 Contest: Writing Challenge, Unburden a "U" word. Congratulations Tania! A smile, please, thank you and excuse me seem so trivial in the face of chaos, yet they are the building blocks of peace and have long term residual effects. As the song says: "Let it begin with me." Your poem is a beautiful reminder of the ways each of us can change our little corner of the world in an avalanche and atmosphere of love, compassion and consideration of others. Thank you for sharing this beauty! Blessings!

Such a charming poem. Unfortunately, our history books are littered with wars. Hope one day we will find peace. Lovely poem, my friend Tania.

If only more people had your humble countenance, we'd have a much gentler world. One in which nurturing each other would be a way of life instead of tearing each other down for not having the same thoughts. This is very well written in a positive light, Tania.

Your poem is quite admirable Tania, and the quote even more so, even as we speak the US has seven active fleets in various parts of the world, not to enforce its dominance, but to ensure its freedom prevails, and here in lies the paradox, the relative utopia and peace the western world lives in, is only held together by being strong imo, that is not to say we shouldn’t aspire for a utopian future for everyone on the planet, and I really hope it happens some day, great one for the contest, cheers David
