Urban Bloom

I paused awhile on the humorless steps
     of a somber public building;
     looked down at something mischievous there
     that playfully peeped through a dark crack
     on the old concrete pavement.

     There it is, a delicate, bright yellow flower
              swaying alone in the light urban breeze
              in dazzlingly radiant abandon, gratefully,
              teasingly saying, "Hello! Thank you!" to the sun
              that, by skyscrapers, was partly hidden.

Amazing how life can live anywhere and beauty can stand out in the darkness of a shadow. I love this piece. beautifully written and so full of vivid imagery. I can picture the steps and the small crack with that tiny flower peaking through. Smiles from Lolita
