Uplifting
she pushed the button …
seventh floor I want to jump
but the door would not open
the countdown began
all exits unavailable
maintenance in progress
a symbol of her pain
basement and parking deck
but she did not own a vehicle
transport restricted
stay put where you are
should have taken the stairway
to hell beyond doubts
but now she was stuck in the lift
panic and agoraphobia unsettled
resolve and it was a myth
that for every gateway closed
another one opened
her phone without reception
the emergency number a mere reminder
of what life had become
she bit her nails
closer to the coffin
in her catacomb of no return
at least she had no food nor water
to prolong her existence
for she was tired of pushing against
all odds when even
the evens refused to release her
when they retrieved her body
crushed in a corner
they found a thank you note
pinned on her nude body
for she had taken off all clothes
to meet the maker whom
she did not believe in
her shrivelled corpse
beautiful in all senses
exuded peace and tranquility
as she lay on the ground
the only matter
she was sorry for was
that she had not had a boob job
to inflate her demise
because appearances had been
the bane of her story
always willing to please
she had forgotten
that pleasure lies in the eyes
of the beholders of deceit
